About me
I tell stories. Whether I write or design something, all is held together by the fact that I tell stories. Those are sometimes my own, sometimes it is somebody else’s story. I am a hybrid between practice and theory, but in the end I think both is the same thing.
I have once learned to create computer graphics and it has fascinated me since. I have then started to do research on the matter which is how I came to work on a PhD between 2016 and 2022. In my work I explored the digital tool from within. Who invented it and why? So, basically even within my research I tell stories (but don’t tell anybody, I said that out loud). In November 2023 my research was published by transcript independent publishing. It has the German title Computergrafik - Zur Geschichte und Produktionsästhetik synthetischer Bilder. Bio
I am born and raised in Germany, but I have spent some time in the US during my studies. So I am somewhat bilingual and my heart is in both places at once.
I studied Communication Design followed by a PhD in Cultural Studies. Nowadays when I am not doing research or writing, I also teach at different arts and design colleges. I love this kind of work as I do have a great passion for theory, but still a deep understanding of what it is like to work practically. It is always so much fun to take my students on that same journey and maybe spark their interest for a little bit of historical and theoretical background on their creative practical approaches.
I am currently working on a new research project and have recently started writing an essay on a topic that is very close to my heart. It's still a little too early to reveal what it's all about, but especially the essay is something I have been wanting to do for a while now and I find it to be quite fulfilling!
